Need some help chaps pls...

When I first got the game, it ran very smooth (with some artifacts)

After patch, it still ran smooth.

In the last week, it has started being a prick.

When I run forward, it continues to run for 1 second even though I am not pressing a key.

I have reinstalled, cleared the cache and all that jazz.

The x800pro is running great with other games. (Half life 2 is average 130fps)

What can it be?

I am sinking into a depression and have started cutting myself.

Run your own 'Local' server and see if you 'over run' on that...

That should help you determine easily if it's a network or pc problem.

By any chance do you have "T1/LAN" ticked in the connection options?
It really sounds like connection problems rather than video card related.To test is its video card related drop everything to low and test it on a server.If its still the same then you`ll know its connection problems.If the problem disappears after lowering the graphics settings then gradually increase the settings one by one until the problem reappears.It may take a bit of time but its probably the best way of checking.

Another thing thats just come to mind is--Youre not using a wireless network or anything like that are you.I had to do away with my wireless access point after getting BF2-It just did not want to work with it for some strange reason.Lag,choppiness etc.As soon as I went back to a wired connection all the problems disappeared.Could be just coincidence though.


What specs is your PC Valen?
Im assuming enough ram etc.Any crap running in the background?

Using a router with ethernet connection.

Update! When I restore my card back to standard speeds, (no overclock), the problems stop!!

Could the game be sensitive to overclocking?

First things first---turn off sideband addressing.I read somewhere that it can cause problems in BF2.


Then set the aperature size to 128 mb.Bigger is not always better and its a matter of testing it on your own pc to see if 256mb works.

sideband addressing? Is that on the BIOS or ATI settings?

As for aperature, its always been 256mb. But I will give it a try. Cheers m8.  :odlums:  LOL

BF2 doesn't like overclocking... There's a link somewhere on these forums to a BF2 tweak guide, I seem to remember reading there to forget about overclocking... But, if it ran ok initially and you haven't overclocked since then, it may be something else....
