ok  i think it was data that told me the xfx 6600GT would be a good card to get

well iam a noob to all this shit with graphics cards.
fairy was on irc 2nite talkn about his power suply and could it push the 9800pro he was looking at.

well i have a  dc out put of 250w  is that ok for this card.

is there anything i should check like memory types and that.

i no i have a agp slot.lol thats it. think i read that the xfx 6600GT does not need a seprate power suply like most graphics cards does this mean i can slot it in to the agp slot like my old graphics card.

can sum1 help as i dnt wana have 2 go and buy it and repack it and send it back and doin that with every card till i find 1 that works. :roll:

min psu is 300 for xfx and it needs molex conecton  will this card still work with a 250w psu  at all. or does the molex connection slove the wattage?

The 6600GT AGP is the better buy at the moment methinks; it's significantly faster than the 9800Pro (see here), particularly with Anti-Aliasing turned on, and depending on where you buy it from it's not that much more expensive.

As regards the PSU, 250W should be fine as long as you don't have too many extra devices like hard disks and optical drives in your system.  You won't know until you plug it in though to be honest, as not all PSU manufacturers are completely honest when it comes to claims about their product's specs.  The card will probably come with a molex splitter so you won't have to worry about whether or not you have a spare power connecter in your system.

My tag was never 'culled' so to speak, on the forum at least.

The card manufacturers will say it needs a 300W to cover their own asses. In reality it all depends on how much power the rest of your system consumes, and how close to 250W output your power supply actually comes.
