« on: December 01, 2008, 02:54:26 PM »
Anyone planning on getting this, its out this week.  Have to say if the MP is as good as the XBOX it could be great fun over TS etc.  Shout if you are planning on picking it up.

The game looks great, but I doubt it will run properly on my PC, even at the lowest res with everything turned down.

Seen some mentions of bad perf on decent spec PC's.  Not sure what to do here, whether to upgrade PC or look at a decent laptop....

From what I've read, to run it half decently, ye need a quad CPU, and a gig of memory on your graphics card.

Read from post 75 onwards http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055350076&page=5

Can't see you getting those specs on a lappie... nevermind the heat it'd produce!

It's a sad day, but more and more I'm not seeing the point in getting games like this on the PC. Get a console for 300 yoyo, leave it in the corner and don't touch the insides for 3 years, knowing all the games you buy will run decently.

Meh. The GTA4 engine for the PC sucked. As for games, could never touch a console, unless it had a keyboard and mouse for all games, had shoot-em-ups with AI that was, well, good.

games great fun online but dont be expecting great gfx.  you would need a gfx card with 512 or more ram on it to play this anyway good.

i have a 256 8800gts, quad core processor and 2gb a ram running the game on low the gfx card just doesnt have the memory needed for this game.

the game is playable but its nothing special to look at

having great fun running people over in my massive truck

yeah I'm def going to pick this one up. Been looking forward too it. i played it a small bit on my cousins console just to get a small taster of what its like. Worryingly enough i heard that people have been having loads of problems with it, installing probs, running probs and all. So i'm also thinking of waiting till the new yr to see myabe if they come out with another patch that will fix a bit more. If it was crashing on me all the time that would drive me spare!

I've been thinking of upgrading my gfx and komplett owe a discount too. I currently have a Point of View GeForce 8800GTS 320MB. Any recommendations?

If your going to upgrade to play GTA4, look into getting one with 1GB memory on it. Using this with a Q9550 Intel Quad. Look into it, though. By the time you do buy it, you'll know what to get. Latest patches have helped a good deal with the crashes, though. See PM.
