What a load of b*llox tbh we have multi-millionaires performing at a concert to highlight the poverty in 3rd world countries.
Are they taking the piss or what ?
Will anything really good come out of this apart from their egos being inflated to new heights ?
A poxy concert will not make poverty history only governments can/will do that.Maybe the debt might be wiped but will that achieve anything ? Hardly as most 3rd world countries are in dire need of financial aid.
And will they make poverty history ? Like hell they will it makes no financial sense for them to spend/waste billions on the 3rd world.
Even the 1st world countries have huge poverty problems and most of their governments don't want to know.Ireland per capita is one of the richest countries in the world but almost a quarter of the population lives on the poverty line.Does the government care like hell they do.
Rant over. :x
The live8 concerts were held to raise awareeness to the general public. They hope with this mass public support (billions of people) will put pressure on the G8 leaders to a) wipe out the poorest countries debts b) double aid c) hold fair trade with African countries.
It is not a charity, it more political than anything. Political decisions are made either because they have to (ie: sign a oil agreement with some middle-east countrie) or by public pressure (ie: the fox hunting ban in britian). Bod Geldof hopes with all this support they can achieve his 3 aims and start the long walk to a better Africa.
The concerst were very good. I was watching the London one. Madonna, Robbie Williams, Peter Kay, Da Little Britian fellas, U2, Coldplay with Richard Ashcroft doing 'Bittersweet Symphony', Pink Floyd, The Who, REM (wtf was wit that blue strip on his face???) Bod Geldof doin 'I dont like mondays' are just a few of the fuckin class acts on all day and night. Craig David was deadly in Paris and Will Smith was brill in Philly. I sure as hell wud have liked to been out there.
Over all, i watched most of it and wat i saw was very gud.
