Need some help from you lot.

Right need a new pc.Im thinking of a gaming laptop and this is for sale on boards.What do you lot reckon??
And another question-im not well up on these new Core2duos--How does that one compare to a p4 3.4??Why do these things only come at 1.6,1.73 etc ghz??

And the graphics card--is that any good?7300go with 256mb dedicated ram??
Bear in mind my current rig is a few years old now--P4 2.8@ 3.4.
Nvidia 6600gt @ 1200mem and 600 core.Runs everything I can throw at it at reasonable frame rates.

And finally Vista--Is it still shit for gaming??
Also I never play anything at the native res of the monitor usuallu 1024*768 does me :)

seems decent enough but vista is shockingly bad at the mo, how much is the laptop going for ?

depends on the price for that lot, stick XP on and you have a portable gaming machine.

core duo works better than single, even at the lower clock speed, as apps will split tasks between the cores.

Its for sale for 850 euros.Its either that one or I hold out for a couple of weeks and for for an XPS.

One worry I have about that machine is the Graphics card.How does 7300go compare to say the 6600gt I have at the minute??

i have a feeling the 6600gt would be a better card than the 7300

youd be better off going for an xps imo

You could probably get a really good machine with 850 euro.. Not a laptop tho..

I think they tend to cost more just cause there portable.. If you didnt plan on bringing it around the whole time a desktop machine would be better!

7300go came out in October 05, I think. Also, you may have fun finding drivers for it.

Yes, Vista is shite for gaming (it hogs up lots of resources), but with 2GB you should be ok.
More bad news: unless Dell has drivers for that model for XP, you'll only be able to use Vista

As the lads have said, though, why go for laptop, when a PC will give you more bang. That, and you won't be able to upgrade your laptop, ever. A PC, you will.
