Gaming Feed News / Classic WoW Raid Reset Days and Schedule
« Last post by [TiG]Betty on August 23, 2019, 12:03:03 PM »Blizzard clarified the raid reset schedule during Classic WoW--it will work just like vanilla, with some instances resetting on different days. This schedule was originally added in Patch 1.9.
Usually instances reset during the weekly maintenance, but as WoW has improved infrastructure over the years, some weeks may not have maintenance.

Gaming Feed News / Philips and Alienware 55-inch monitors render Nvidia’s AWOL BFGDs irrelevant
« Last post by [TiG]Betty on August 23, 2019, 12:03:03 PM »Philips and Alienware are going head-to-head with big format gaming displays that actually will see the light of day. Those BFGDs touted by Nvidia et al have still yet to be released, but a pair of 55-inch gaming monitors from Alienware and Philips will hit the streets in September and Q1 of 2020 respectively making us question why anyone would wait for a BFGD. And yeah, if you thought a 30-inch PC monitor was overkill you ain’t seen nothing yet…
The Alienware screen is an achingly beautiful OLED display, and must surely rank as the best-looking gaming monitor ever released, both in terms of its overall aesthetic and its visual fidelity. The Philips screen can’t boast the same incredible OLED imagery but the fact that it’s sporting a dedicated Bowers and Wilkins sound bar dangling below the panel should at least make it the best-sounding monitor around.
And it will be considerably cheaper than the glorious Alienware big boy; the 55-inch OLED will be £3,200 when it launches later this year, while Philips is reportedly touting a price tag around half that for its own large-scale beauty.

Gaming Feed News / Remnant: From the Ashes comes out this week, but you can play it now
« Last post by [TiG]Betty on August 19, 2019, 02:33:05 PM »Gunfire Games' Remnant: From the Ashes officially launches August 20, but players who preorder the gritty Souls-like shooter can play today and tomorrow as a bonus 'VIP preview weekend' event.
If you haven't been following Remnant: From the Ashes, it's an action-RPG that's taken more than a few cues from the Souls series, adding in a load of guns and co-op activities and extra-dimensional plant monsters (actually, I'm pretty sure Dark Souls had those, too). You can play with two co-op partners to try to take on its chittering hordes, or play solo.
As Rich found when he tried a preview build recently, it's a challenging game that's about using resources wisely - ammo is scarce, so it's crucial to use what little of it you have efficiently. Remnant also rewards you according to how you play with perks tailored to the way you've approached situations. Stealthily taking out enemy snipers at a distance, for example, rewards you with the Shadow Walker trait, which reduces enemy awareness of you. But you'll also be able to pick out abilities in trees you unlock, which gives you a measure of manual control over how you spec out your character.

Protection Paladins aren't often used in Classic WoW as tanks, due to the lack of a taunt ability, which was only added to the Paladin class in The Burning Crusade expansion. However, there are many raid encounters and scenarios that Protection Paladins can serve as tanks.

Gaming Feed News / King’s Bounty 2 release set for 2020 on Steam
« Last post by [TiG]Betty on August 19, 2019, 03:12:08 AM »King’s Bounty has gotten plenty of sequels since publisher 1C Company revived the series in 2008, but now the company has a much more direct follow-up in mind with King’s Bounty 2. While that title implies a back-to-basics approach, there’s plenty of reinvention alongside the classic brand of tactical strategy.
The big change is that you’ll now explore and adventure in an open world that offers a “cinematic story.†You’ll choose between three characters with their own narratives at the outset, and your decisions over the course of the story will affect how the plot plays out and how NPCs react to you, pretty much as you’d expect from a modern, open-ended RPG.
But it’s still a tactics game in the style that would eventually inspire Heroes of Might and Magic. Whenever you hit a battle in the world, the terrain of the strategic map will reflect where you were standing - which means you can position yourself before combat for a strategic advantage. The arenas will also have more geographical features including hills and valleys.
